[LinkedIn] Renew agreement

"By checking this box, you agree to the following terms. Your paid account will renew automatically, unless we terminate it, or you notify Customer Service by email (customer_service@linkedin.com) of your decision to terminate your paid account. You must cancel your subscription before it renews in order to avoid billing of subscription fees for the renewal term to your credit card"

This is probably the most vicious renew term I’ve ever seen. The only way to contact them is by emailing the customer service? I’ve rarely got back from customer service and I bet it’s pretty easy and convenient for them to use I’m-sorry-I-didn’t-get-your-email excuse.

[Sharing] Metrics Driven Design

I read an interesting article titled Metrics Driven Design by Joshua Porter on http://bokardo.com/talks/metrics-driven-design/

It mentioned the importance of Metrics to designers and used a few services that we're pretty familiar with as examples like Dropbox and Twitter. Stopdesign by Douglas Bowman is also a good blog to read.

Real estate on mobile phones

Reference: http://www.engadget.com/2011/04/05/app-review-spb-shell-3d-for-android/

Space is limited, and everybody is seeking a way to earn more real estate. iPhone uses the concept of folders to accommodate more apps in one page; Droids allow user to save favorites or more frequently used apps on the desktop and have a one-click button to see all downloaded apps; Firefox 4 offers a new feature to group tabs by dragging and dropping; iPad literally creates more real estate by enlarging the size of its screen. This app reminds me of how important the real estate is: lots people were talking about price and customization, but what I saw was different—the technology to earn more real estate on mobile devices would prob become one of the important topics in the next coming years.

More ideas coming soon…
